Are you aware of blockchain, AI, AR/VR, IoT, Hybrid Cloud? We’ve briefly mentioned them before and they are emerging as the website development trends tagged for continued traction in 2018.
Blockchain:
Think of this like a ledger tracking system. Used now on Bitcoin and Litecoin, blockchains remove the institution in the middle like a bank or credit card firm. Blockchains do what these institutions do automatically like checking for forgeries and verifying the buyer and seller are legit. It enables value exchange in real time, decreasing expenses and mistakes.
Artificial Intelligence (AI):
AI includes applications like speech recognition, natural language processing, semantic technology, machine learning, swarm intelligence, biometrics, and chatbots or voice bots. The right application can also reduce operations costs.
AR/VR Technologies:
Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR). Augmented reality means blending digital information with the user environment in real time, basically, overlaying new information on top of the current reality. It presents products and services in an enhanced way like showing you what Ikea furniture will look like in a room.
Virtual Reality creates a completely artificial environment. It’s used to precisely target an audience while delivering brand sensory experiences of products and services. Video games using a head mounted display are a good example of VR.
Internet of Things (IoT):
This is an accelerated movement of connected devices by way of an IP address potentially delivering business benefits. An example of this is a smart thermostat that’s connected to the internet.
Hybrid Cloud:
This cloud computing environment applies a combination of on-premises, private cloud, and third-party, public cloud services. Data is backed up locally and replicated offsite.
